How do I check my Windows version?

Windows does two major updates each year and as many additional updates as needed the rest of the time. The major updates bring design changes, improvements, and fixes to the operating system and Windows properties. Other updates are for fixes, corrections, and new material like updated drivers. There is no other update system or manager needed for Windows and for more devices used by Windows.  Most manufacturers are providing their latest driver updates through Microsoft rather than directly to the user.

To check what Version of Windows is running

1. Click the START button and go to Settings (the Gear icon ⚙) to open Settings.
2. At the bottom of the left column of the Settings window, click on About.
3. Scroll down as needed to find the section “Windows specifications” where you will see your Windows version.

In this example the Windows Version is 21H1.
