Sanitizing your PC and equipment
When it comes to cleaning a PC or laptop we normally recommend a very light mix of non-ammonia dish soap and water, like 1 tsp in a quart of water. That is great for cleaning off the schmutz on a keyboard or screen. Misting a clean cloth to dampen it then wiping down the machines. We have different needs now with Covid-19 and our heightened awareness of surface contamination. Though the soap mix is great it does not sanitize your equipment. The CDC recommends the use of alcohol-based sanitizers with 70% alcohol content for disinfecting a home where someone has been sick. F1 Systems takes this as the guideline for recommending a solution of:
16oz qt grain alcohol or 90% isopropyl alcohol
4oz distilled water
Use in a spray bottle by misting a clean cloth and wiping down all surfaces of the equipment.
It is best to never spray cleaner of any kind directly on a computer or other equipment. Gently mist a clean cloth and carefully wipe down the machine. Be careful on a laptop to not snag the key as you wipe off the keyboard.
